Description
This is a role reversal of sorts. The little girl is using the big oil can oiling the Steam locomotive engine wheel bearings, as the engineer uses the little oil can to lubricate the vintage Radio Flyer red wagon wheel bearings. Inside the wagon is an engineer teddy bear. The locomotive is a narrow gauge Colorado & Southern #60 engine now on public display in Idaho Springs, CO.
In post production, I used multiple layers to create an oil painting effect to the final photo. I also had to photograph train ballast and use that in the foreground of the image as the display has grass in the foreground.

Love this conceptual people at work photograph! Love the role reversals here. The little girl is 'at work' oiling the locomotive while the adult is 'at play' oiling the wheel of the red wagon with the Teddy Bear overseeing the work. 'At Work' and 'At Play ' are the two visual concepts as well as gender roles that are skillfully and whimsically presented in this photograph. L/F
