Description
The head frame for the Yankee Girl Mine is one of the most recognizable in Colorado. It can be seen from a viewpoint along U.S. 550 near Red Mountain Pass, but to reach the head frame requires a four-wheel drive vehicle and a little bit of navigation, or you can hike to it from a small inlet off of US550.
I photographed the mine after a light coat of snow fell the night before. Aspens on Red Mountain Pass were at peak and made for a great backdrop.

Excellent capture, I was just there, drive by at least once a month, not a lot left of this amazing place, only boards placed there now to hold up what is left. Liked, faved and shared!

Many thanks for the kind words Donna. It was a bit tricky to 4 wheel back there for this shot.
