Description
I wanted to create a still life photograph that represented our American Culture in the early beginnings of our country. I used a Betsy Ross American Flag used during the Revolutionary War. I also used a period flint lock pistol, and replica's of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States as props for this image.
I could not help but get a bit emotional as I began ironing this flag to remove the wrinkles from packaging. To think of the many men and women who gave their lives and service to our country at its birth. was nothing short of emotional.
When I finished ironing the Flag, I realized that this was so new, that it did not match the parchment paper at all. I needed to give the Flag a much older, antiqued and used weathered look. I refused to do that to the old red, white, and blue itself, so I did it in post production, to match the texture and feel of the old historical documents.
I believe the finished piece would be a real conversational piece in any room or office but I believe it would look great especially in an attorney or legal office.
